I'm looking at getting a cheap dual sport dirt bike. Age doesn't really matter. If it's older than 90s it kinda does. I want one to drive to school and work and back. Off road occasionally. But mostly good on gas. The highest speed I would need on the road would only be about 55 so I don't need a

I'm looking at getting a cheap dual sport dirt bike. Age doesn't really matter. If it's older than 90s it kinda does. I want one to drive to school and work and back. Off road occasionally. But mostly good on gas. The highest speed I would need on the road would only be about 55 so I don't need a 650 or anything. My budget is a little under 2k.

Shane Huffman: Pretty much any Jap dual sport will be a good bike, as long as it hasn't had the piss beaten out of it. Just go out and look for any in your price range.

For that money you're looking for a 250 single cylinder trailie, like a Suzuki DR250 or equivalent from one of the other big four Japanese brands.

You can get a pretty recent / decent Yamaha TW200 for under $2k. It's a great bike.

*All* of the four Japanese companies make 200-250cc dual-sport bikes. *All* are good if they have been maintained. What you can buy depends on what is available where you are.
