Brand new subwoofer making weird noise when hooked up?

so i bought a brand new 1200 watt infinity subwoofer and i have it hooked up in my car when i turned it on it was making a weird noise not bumping to the music like it should be, i used these thin wires i found laying around the house (made sure they were copper tho) to hook up to the terminals on the subwoofer,

You should be using wires similar to an electric lamp extension cord – 16 GA. You probably don't have sufficient connection / current flowing to the sub to make it work properly.

A Hum is usually a result of having a ground loop in the audio system. Check all connections, ensure the polarity is correct on the speakers and the amp.

it is somewhat of a staticy sound that starts as soon as the car is turned on without any music playing the subwoofer jumps in and out i would say its something like youre describing bluemaz

We have no idea what this weird noise is. Why don't you add it to the question so we can hear it or tell us what it sounds like?

What is the weird noise? is it a constant hum/whine while the car is running?
