Can playing music loudly in the car damage the stereo?

I like to turn up the music loud, well it doesn't seem that loud to me but my mom said she could hear the bass (which is also up) jnside the house when I pulled up And the rear view mirror shakes when the bass drops too. But other than that it's not audibly deafening.

Can this damage my car? Like

Can this damage my car? Like eventually the stereo will "bust"??

Best Answer:

PeppermintCandy: might damage your ears. Highly unlikely to damage the car. I ve seen massive SPL systems fatigue welds and sheet metal over time, but those are rare and extreme cases.
Speakers (mainly) and amps are stressed when played loud, and they can be damaged over time. The stereo itself isn t really affected.

PeppermintCandy:
There is this thing called hearing loss.

People get hearing loss from loud excessive SPL sound systems. People also get hearing loss by not wearing ear protection when working with extremely loud machines. As for music, it mainly occurs in the higher frequency range. Where you hear voices and instruments playing. The low end range which is the bass rarely has any affect on your hearing.

To answer your question, your stereo will have no affect. Your speaker and amplifier will have the affect. Your amplifier will stress out and run very hot. Your speaker can get damaged and possibly blow out.

DR + Mrs Bears face:
Hi yes you can permanently damage your hearing and others to as well a destroying the stereo system itself as the internal components get too hot.
Losin' Lately Gambler:
If the speakers are very old or damaged, it's possible to damage them with too much power going in.
Louis:
It's unlikely that the stereo will cook but you could eventually blow the speakers
Alexander:
Factory speakers will eventually blow out unless the car had a pricey upgraded system from the factory.
Happy Gramps:
your ears will "bust" before the speakers do…………..turn down the noise !!!
