Do you need a new ignition switch when changing ignition lock cylinder?

Want to change because I can start car without key it's not hot wired thoe

Best Answer:

Alan002: The lock cylinder can be replaced separately. It's tricky the first time you do it. There may be a youtube video for your vehicle to watch how it's done. You'll end up needing two keys if you don't have a locksmith rekey the new lock to match the doors.

No, but you need a mating key for the replacement cylinder.

The switch is separate from the cylinder. Keep the switch, change the cylinder.
