I've always had a slight fear of driving at night, I get really anxious and for some reason I always imagine like a man or a dog jumping out and attacking my car or something. I always have to drive with the radio on and/or with a friend at night. A few days ago, I was driving home from work at night and an AMBER alert came on the radio and I freaked out. I was already so anxious and then the loud noise came and I started bawling I was so scared. Now I can barely drive at night without crying. I always imagine like a green dog with blacked out eyes and I don't even know haha I know I sound so crazy but I really need some help getting over this fear, should I see a doctor?

Unless you work at night, you won't drive that much after dark. During the summer, it gets dark pretty late anyway. When I have to drive at night, I become more aware of what I'm doing. Make sure that all your external lights (head, tail, brake) are in working order and properly adjusted (headlight). Don't drive if you feel drowsy or if you've had any alcohol or medicine that makes you sleepy. Don't take pep pills or energy drinks to keep you awake. Not worth it.

I love driving at night. Its so peaceful. Youre in a car so if a dog attacks it it cant hurt you ( plus ive never known that to happen to anyone). Your doors lock so no people can get in it. They only thing to worry about is a racoon running in front of you and running it over

You're much more a danger to animals and pedestrians than they are to you. If they seem to come out of nowhere either you don't have your lights on, you're not concentrating, or you're going too fast. Generally, you yourself are safe, but if you hit a moose around twilight you can be killed as they come through the windshield. (admittedly you find those in northern Canada, no downtown LA)
I don't know if it would help, but you could try thinking of yourself as the potential killer, not the victim, and try to keep your mind on the actual driving.
