You deserve the ticket for double parking in the No Parking zone and obstructing traffic. You should have had your cousin keep driving the car, or you keep driving the car while your cousin took care of business. Just sitting in the passenger seat doesn't cut it: you need to be *actively* loading or unloading people or stuff to justify what you did without getting a ticket.

You got the ticket for double parking in a no parking zone. What has your cousin got to do with anything/

If the car is not moving and there is no one in the driver's seat, then it is parked and should get the same tickets as if it was empty with no one in it. They were right to ticket the car, but it should have gotten two tickets, not one.

Dude!! You are totally screwed. You got nothing to fight with.

You could be in the car, motor running, in gear, while your passenger jumps out to buy a pack of cigarettes in the 7-11 — and you can get a parking ticket.

Alsop:
The car was parked
James:
And? It wouldn't matter who was in the car, it was illegally parked. Your car, your ticket.

Wow,that's like saying, "I ran over a pedestrian ,but it's ok cause my cousin was in the front passenger seat".Funny.
