I want to be a pilot and for now i am happy with flying cessnas, but how do you get on a red bull air race team, and where is the first place to start. it has been my dream for a long time.
jerlene: You need over 1,000 solo flight hours, an active airshow pilot or a competitor in an international aerobatics championship, then you go through selection and the race director board. If you've met all the criteria and passed selection then you can proceed to the Red Bull Air Race qualification training and attempt to achieve a Super License. This intense training is held over a week and trains you for race conditions and is observed by the Race Director and an experienced pilot such as Peter Besenyei. If you successfully demonstrate the skills needed then you have to pass a final medical to prove you are at peak fitness and then you become a RBAR pilot!
I don't want to become a Red Bull pilot.
First, learn to fly ($). Next, learn to fly aerobatics in a high performance aerobatic airplane ($$). Practice a LOT until you're at national competition level ($$$). IF you're good enough, you MIGHT be invited to fly in Red Bull air races.
It takes a heck of a lot of money. If that's not an issue for you, read and learn: http://flighttraining.aopa.org/magazine/…
(p.s. when asking such questions, it is more correct to use "I" instead of "you", because you are asking for yourself.)
