Ok, so my fiancé for a long time has wanted me to take her on a trip with a yacht, last year when we got engaged i promised her that this time next year i will take her sailing. Me thinking that i ll have plenty of time in a years space to learn how to operate/sail a yacht. I have booked the yacht for two weeks and i also have a boating license which i obtained a few years back when i had a small fishing boat. I have no i idea how to operate/sail a yacht, is it difficult?, should i cancel?.
My bad I meant to say 4 nights not 2 weeks

A yacht technically is a boat operated for pleasure – ie it can be a motor boat.
I have no idea of your competence with a boat which makes advice tricky. Some folk pick up the basics in minutes, some folk never ":get it" I've been a scout sailing instructor for over 20 years & seen both extremes.
I MOST strongly advise you to get at least a day's sailing on a crewed boat with basic instruction thrown in before setting off. (Your charterers may provide this, check with them immediately. They wont let you out in their expensive vessel until they feel reasonable confident that you can bring it back undamaged.)
It is actually easier to sail a larger boat than a dinghy – things go wrong more slowly but cost a lot more if carried through to catastrophy!!
I've bare boat chartered a couple of times & the managers have always come out initially to make sure we know what we're doing.
Greywolf:
Operating a sailing yacht under sail is complex. If you don't know what you are doing, it's dangerous.

But a 1-week course in a good school will get you up to Day Skipper standard.

realtor.sailor:
No charter company will permit you to charter a sail boat with your lack of sailing experience. You'd have to go with a captained charter.
Ian K:
Get on a local beer can race crew now.

Buy a dinghy and start learning.

Then, hire a captain for your trip.

Yes it is. You need a number of courses to to this safely.
