Is Learning To Drive Scary?

My friend is 23 and his grandparents are basically trying to force him to learn to drive, (probably to make him be a taxi service for them)

They have booked him lessons, he has a lesson in a few days and he is terrified, he is afraid he will die during the first lesson or crash or whatever

Should he be scared?

If he is taking lessons from a real driving school, then there will probably be duplicate controls for the teacher. The teacher can take control if the student does something really wrong.

The lessons will NOT start out by driving on the freeway at 70 MPH.

He has nothing to worry about. It is a good thing to be able to drive.

The initial few hours will be a bit hectic, but that's why you have someone watching over you. It's not that scary. Taxi service? Your friend needs to be able to get around on his own. His grandparents are probably serving as his taxi service.
Stole:
Not at all . The first driving lessons are basics and driving is with very low speeds like 15-20 mph.

He will not crash into a 1950 Ford while driving a race car at too high a speed on a regular road – I can assure you of that.

Your friend has no need to worry about pushing up pansies yet.

Scott H:
Seriously? "Terrified" of driving? There's no reason to be scared or terrified, millions of people drive millions of miles each day without incident.
Jason:
at 23??? are you kidding me??? Its not about being a "taxi service" for his grandparents, its about the kid growing up
