Police officer came after the accident and said I was at fault.?

I was heading straight passed my street cross line. Was about to pass the intersection when I got hit on front passenger seat. The other car lane was hit in the front. Both car were non driveable. Police came and ask us questions and wrote on his mini note pad. I told him I "think" it was a green light

I was heading straight passed my street cross line. Was about to pass the intersection when I got hit on front passenger seat. The other car lane was hit in the front. Both car were non driveable. Police came and ask us questions and wrote on his mini note pad. I told him I "think" it was a green light when i cross the interesection. My mind was still in shock at the time where I couldnt think straight. The other car said I ran a red light. Police came back and told me that I most likely ran a red light because the other car have a witness out of no where. I was on the far right lane heading straight. The other car street had 3 lanes exiting the freeway. 2 lanes to turn left only and Only 1 lane to go straight only. Other car claim that he was going straight.
If I ran a red light wouldn't I hit the 2 lanes of cars turning left first instead of his car all the way to the farthest right side? Only his car was moving at the time while the 2 turning left lanes were at a stop.

First off, police officers do not, ever, under any circumstances, set blame. They make reports and issue tickets if laws were broken.

Secondly, asking the same question multiple times doesn't change the answers. If you are looking for someone to say it isn't your fault, you may find that, but fault (again) is set by the involved insurance companies, not strangers on Yahoo.

I'll repeat my first answer since you seem to have forgotten…

Play back the footage on your dash cam, that will show if the light was green or not and the exact second of impact.

If you don't have one, and you aren't sure if the light was green or not, given that entering an intersection on a yellow light is the same as running a red light, and there are a multitude of witnesses saying you ran a red light, it's a good chance you ran a red light and it's your fault.

Regardless, you and I don't set fault, that is the job of insurance companies. Work with yours.

Good luck.

StephenWeinstein:
No. If you ran a red light, you wouldn't have hit the 2 lanes of cars turning left, either because they also had a red light or because they had to yield to oncoming traffic. There are many reasons why they might have been stopped, even if your light was red.

At many large intersections, the lanes that turn left can have a red light at the same time as the lanes next to them going straight have a green light.

So even if the cars turning left had a red light (which you don't know that they did), it doesn't mean that his light wasn't green or that your light wasn't red.

STEPHEN:
As soon as you said "I think" you were pretty much busted. A witness "out of nowhere"? Any passer by can be a witness. The other guy has a witness. You'll be found 100% at fault.
Happy Gramps:
this Q has already been answered !!! no one on YA can do anything since "we" were not at the scene…………..if the Police have witnesses stating that you went thru a red light, and you have no witness to verify otherwise, then what are you going to do ?? law enforcement will win over someone w/o any witnesses
Dan B:
When you said you "think" you had the green and the other driver said he had the green (with witnesses), guess where your thinking falls in the chain of evidence. I have a dash cam to help prove my innocence (or prove my guilt) – a double-edged sword if you will.
