The Triumph is a cosmetic scrambler not a real off road bike. Dual sports bikes have low off road capability and people rarely use them off road
billy:
Triumphs are my top favorite bikes and I highly recommend one. Why because Fonzie was the s*** that's why! I know wasn't a scrambler but I believe the guy in Jarrasic park has a scrambler & that was bad-***!! I own a 1990 Suzuki DR650 though & I loooooove the bike. Guess it all depends really. At this moment I'm really enjoying my dual sport.

Dual Sport bikes are on road bikes modified to look like off road bikes .. Look at the sport utility market they are cars made to look like trucks .. this is what the motorcycle market is doing and the Triumph Scrambler is just that but it is Styled in the 1960s era instead of the 2017 era .. What is better is up to the rider
Joe:
Scale of 1-10
Scrambler- 4
ADV bikes- 3
Dual sport (think Kawaski KLR250)- 7

The Triumph Scrambler is a Bonneville with high pipes. Basically a road bike.

A dual sport like WR/KLR/DR is basically a trail bike with blinkers.

Apples and oranges.

Tim D:
No need to guess, I know a Triumph Scrambler is worse off-road then any genuine off-roader.

That does not mean they are bad bikes, they are a styling exercise not a genuine attempt to make an off-roader.

Dimo J:
I don't need the 500 pound Triumph off the road. For off road you want lightest weight. Back when I was going into the desert I road a little Yamaha DT175. Unless you are on a race track, or pretending you are, you don't need more than 250cc.
