What size amplifier do I need if I have 2 400 watt subwoofers?

Other answer:

cooter:
From 50 watts up to 400 watts. Well, you only need as much as you can comfortably use.
cary krytzer:
2 x 400 = 800.
So you need 800 watts.

W/o brand and model info nobody can give you an accurate answer. They can only try.

400w rms from a trustworthy brand or 400w peak?
Dual voice coils or single?
2 ohms? 4 ohms? Something else?

All that info is needed to choose an amp. With brand/model info the technical info can quickly be found.

It's easy.

Using the RMS — not "peak" — power ratings,
get an amplifier rated for about the same number of
watts per channel as the power rating of each speaker.

It doesn't have to be an exact match.
