Will the California high speed train ever be completed? Will there even be a high speed rail in California?

Other answer:

Javier:
My great grandchildren's grandchildren will enjoy being the first generation to travel from Bakersfield to within 20 miles of Merced at high speed. In all actuality I think at some point someone will realize that you could complete the municipal rail systems of every major city in the state for a fraction of the money and that would take more cars off the road than building rail out in the middle of nowhere.

The topography of California doesn't allow for genuine high speed trains such as those that hit over 200mph across the flatlands of France.
